This support document is available for the following products:
After a FRITZ!OS update, a username is required for the login to the user interface
After a FRITZ!Repeater update, a username is now requested when opening the user interface via the internet (e.g. via MyFRITZ!). Before the update, only the FRITZ!Repeater password was required for the login.
Cause
- With FRITZ!OS 8.20 or higher, the FRITZ!Repeater can also be used as an internet router, and it has user controls. To access it from the internet, a username and password must be entered. The user must be authorized to access the device from the internet.
1 Setting up FRITZ!Repeater users
A user with the name 'fritz' plus a random four-digit number, for example 'fritz1234', is created automatically during the update. Adapt the rights of this standard user for the login via the internet, or configure a new user with the right to access from the internet. The configuration must be done locally in the home network.
- Click on 'System' in the user interface of the FRITZ!Repeater.
- Click on 'FRITZ!Repeater Users' in the 'System' menu.
- Click on the
(Edit) button for the user who should be allowed to access the FRITZ!Repeater from the internet or set up a new user for internet access:- Click on the 'Add User' button.
- Enter a name, email address, and password for the user in the corresponding fields.
- Enable the 'Access from the internet allowed' option.
- Enable the 'FRITZ!Repeater Settings' option.
- Click on 'Apply' to save the settings and on the FRITZ!Repeater, confirm that the procedure may be executed, if you are asked to do so.
