Selecting a different outgoing call number when making a call

Connected phones automatically make calls using a specific number that can be defined in the FRITZ!Box.

Regardless of the settings in the FRITZ!Box, you can also make individual calls using a different phone number. To do so, before you make the call, on the phone you can define an outgoing call number that will be used to make the call. The phone number settings and dialling rules in the FRITZ!Box are then suspended for this call.

Requirements / Restrictions

  • To change the outgoing phone number with key commands: If the FRITZ!Box Mesh Repeater is in the Mesh Wi-Fi of a different FRITZ! device (Mesh Master), the 'Telephony in the Mesh' function may not be activated for the FRITZ!Box. You cannot use key commands to change the outgoing phone number when telephony in the Mesh is activated.

1 Changing the outgoing call number with key commands

  1. Click on 'Telephony' in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click on 'Phone Numbers' in the 'Telephony' menu.
  3. Make note of the key command displayed in the 'Preselection' column for the phone number you want to use for your next outgoing call.

    Example:
*122# for your second phone number

  4. Enter the key command + phone number.

    Example:
You want to call the number 1234 using your second phone number. Dial *122#1234.

2 Changing the outgoing call number in the FRITZ!Fon menu

In the FRITZ!Fon menu you can select the outgoing number from the numbers that you assigned to the FRITZ!Fon in the FRITZ!Box for incoming calls. The 'React to all numbers' option may not be enabled for the FRITZ!Fon in the FRITZ!Box:

  1. Press the 'Menu' key on the phone.
  2. Scroll to 'Settings' and press 'OK'.
  3. 'Telephony' > 'OK' > 'Telephone no.' > 'OK'
  4. Select the desired outgoing phone number.
  5. Click on 'OK' to save the setting.

The phone number is shown in the display and used by FRITZ!Fon as the outgoing phone number for the next call.
