Setting up MyFRITZ!App for iOS

With MyFRITZ!App for iOS you can easily and securely access your FRITZ!Box when you are at home or on the go. This way you can

  • access FRITZ!NAS to download files, upload photos or videos, or play multimedia content such as photos or music.
  • enable and disable the FRITZ!Box answering machine and call diversions, check calls, voice messages, and other events (if IP phones such as https://fritz.com/pages/fritzapp-fonFRITZ!App Fon are set up in the FRITZ!Box).

You can also use MyFRITZ!App to access several FRITZ!Boxes. To do so, you only have to register MyFRITZ!App once with each FRITZ!Box as described here.

Requirements / Restrictions

  • Apple iOS 18 or later is installed on the smartphone or tablet.

Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box.

1 Preparations

Setting up a Wi-Fi connection to the FRITZ!Box

When setting up the app, the smartphone or tablet must be connected to the FRITZ!Box's Wi-Fi network (not the guest network):

Configuring the FRITZ!Box to allow access for applications

In the factory settings, the FRITZ!Box is configured to allow applications to access it. If you changed the FRITZ!Box's settings, allow access from applications again:

  1. Click on 'Home Network' in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click on 'Network' in the 'Home Network' menu.
  3. Click on the 'Network Settings' tab.
  4. If available, click on 'Additional Settings' in the 'WAN setting' or 'LAN Settings' section to display all of the settings.
  5. Enable the 'Permit access for apps' option in the 'Access Settings in the Home Network' section.
  6. Click on 'Apply' to save the settings.

Disabling the VPN connection

When setting up the app, no VPN connection (for example NordVPN) and no comparable internet anonymization services (for example Apple iCloud Private Relay) may be active on the smartphone or tablet:

  1. Disable all of the VPN connections on the mobile device.

2 Installing MyFRITZ!App

  1. Install MyFRITZ!App from the Apple App Store on your smartphone or tablet.
  2. Start MyFRITZ!App.
  3. Enter the FRITZ!Box password. If you are asked to enter a username and password, enter the account information of a FRITZ!Box user who is authorized to access FRITZ!Box settings.

    Note:You can edit the account information and access rights of users under 'System > FRITZ!Box Users' in the user interface.

  4. Tap on the 'Save' button to complete the configuration.

3 Configuring MyFRITZ! internet access

If you want to use MyFRITZ!App to access the user interface of your FRITZ!Box from the internet, set up your FRITZ!Box for internet access via MyFRITZ!Net!:

4 Configuring further FRITZ! products in MyFRITZ!App

The following steps are only necessary if you want to access several FRITZ!Boxes or FRITZ!Repeaters operating as internet routers with MyFRITZ!App:

Note:If you would like to access the FRITZ! products deployed as Mesh Repeaters, proceed as described in the guide Accessing Mesh Repeaters over the internet.

  1. Connect your smartphone or tablet to the Wi-Fi network of the FRITZ! product that you want to set up in MyFRITZ!App.
  2. Start MyFRITZ!App.
  3. Tap on the gear symbol on the top left.
  4. Tap on 'Set up new FRITZ! device' and then on 'Connect MyFRITZ!App'.
  5. Select the FRITZ! product to which you want to connect MyFRITZ!App.
  6. Enter the FRITZ!Box password. If you are asked to enter a username and password, enter the account information of a FRITZ!Box user who is authorized to access FRITZ!Box settings.

    Note:You can edit the account information and access rights of users under 'System > FRITZ!Box/FRITZ!Repeater Users' in the user interface.

  7. Tap on the 'Save' button to complete the configuration. From now on, MyFRITZ!App connects to the device it was connected to last. Use the 'Settings' menu to switch between the devices configured in MyFRITZ!App.
