Using roller shutter motors in the FRITZ! home network

In your FRITZ! home network you can register roller shutter motors from other manufacturers that use the DECT ULE/HAN FUN or Zigbee standard. Roller shutter motors from the German manufacturers 'BoxCTRL' (Becker) and 'RolloTron DECT' (Home Pilot) are perfectly suited for use with the FRITZ!Smart Gateway.

You can then easily operate your roller shutters using the smart home functions of the FRITZ!Smart Gateway. For example, you can configure automatic switching to automatically open the shutters in the morning and automatically close them in the hot midday sun. During holidays you can also use flexible controls to simulate being at home by automatically opening and closing the roller shutters, perhaps combined with smart lighting control.

Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box.

1 Using roller shutter motors according to the DECT ULE/HAN FUN standard

You can register roller shutter motors that support the DECT ULE/HAN FUN standard directly with your FRITZ!Smart Gateway.

  1. Click on 'Smart Home' in the user interface of the FRITZ!Smart Gateway.
  2. Click on 'Devices and Groups' in the 'Smart Home' menu.
  3. Click on the 'Register another smart home device' button and follow the wizard's instructions.
  4. As soon as the roller shutter motor is successfully registered, it can be configured.

2 Registering roller shutter motors according to the Zigbee standard

To operate a roller shutter motor based on the Zigbee standard, e.g. from IKEA, it must be compatible with the FRITZ!Smart Gateway:

  1. Register the roller shutter motor according to the Zigbee standard with the FRITZ!Smart Gateway.

The roller shutter motor is now set up and you can switch and control it in the home network and from anywhere over the internet.
