Updating the FRITZ!OS of FRITZ!Powerline

There are several ways to install the latest FRITZ!OS for your FRITZ!Powerline device: either quickly and easily with one of the two "online update" functions, or manually if you cannot perform an online update:

ATTENTION!Power to the socket is briefly interrupted during the update process!

  • Online update using the FRITZ!Box user interface
  • Online update using the FRITZ!Powerline user interface
  • Manual update using the FRITZ!Powerline user interface

1 Using the FRITZ!Box user interface to update

  1. Click on 'Home Network' in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click on 'Mesh' or 'Home Network Overview' in the 'Home Network' menu.
  3. If available, click on 'Search for updates' on the bottom right.
  4. If a FRITZ!OS update is found, click on 'Update' or 'Perform update' next to the respective FRITZ!Powerline device.

2 Using the FRITZ!Powerline user interface to update

  1. Click "System" in the FRITZ!Powerline user interface.
  2. Click "Update" or "Firmware Update" in the "System" menu.
  3. Click "Find New FRITZ!OS" or "Find New Firmware".
  4. Click the "Start Update" or "Start Firmware Update Now" button.

3 Updating manually

If you cannot use the 'online update' function, for example when FRITZ!Powerline is not connected to the internet, update manually:

Downloading the FRITZ!OS file

  1. Call up https://download.avm.de/fritzpowerline/ in your web browser.
  2. Switch to the folder for your FRITZ!Powerline model, then to the subfolder 'other', and then to the folder 'fritz.os'.
  3. Download the file with the extension '.image' to the computer.

Installing the latest FRITZ!OS

  1. Click "System" in the FRITZ!Powerline user interface.
  2. Click "Update" or "Firmware Update" in the "System" menu.
  3. Click on the "FRITZ!OS File" or "Firmware File" tab.
  4. Click the "Browse..." or "Choose File" button.
  5. Select the FRITZ!OS file you downloaded (image file).
  6. Click the "Start Update" button.
