Updating the FRITZ!OS of FRITZ!Powerline

There are several ways to install the latest FRITZ!OS for your FRITZ!Powerline device: either quickly and easily with one of the two 'online update' functions, or manually if you cannot perform an online update:

  • Online update using the user interface of the Mesh Master (FRITZ!Box or FRITZ!Repeater)
  • Online update using the FRITZ!Powerline user interface
  • Manual update using the FRITZ!Powerline user interface

1 Using the Mesh Master's user interface to update

  1. Click on 'Home Network' in the user interface of the Mesh Master.
  2. Click on 'Mesh' in the 'Home Network' menu.
  3. If available, click on 'Search for updates' on the bottom right.
  4. If a FRITZ!OS update is found, click on 'Update' or 'Perform update' next to the respective FRITZ!Powerline device.

2 Using the FRITZ!Powerline user interface to update

  1. Click on 'System' in the FRITZ!Powerline user interface.
  2. Click on 'Update' in the 'System' menu.
  3. Click on the 'FRITZ!OS Version' tab.
  4. Click on 'Find New FRITZ!OS'.
  5. Click on the 'Start Update' button.

3 Updating manually

If you cannot use the 'online update' function, for example when FRITZ!Powerline is not connected to the internet, update manually:

Downloading the FRITZ!OS file

  1. Call up https://download.avm.de/fritzpowerline/ in your web browser.
  2. Switch to the folder for your FRITZ!Powerline model, then to the subfolder 'deutschland' or 'other', and then to the folder 'fritz.os'.
  3. Download the file with the extension '.image' to the computer.

Installing the latest FRITZ!OS

  1. Click on 'System' in the FRITZ!Powerline user interface.
  2. Click on 'Update' in the 'System' menu.
  3. Click on the 'FRITZ!OS file' tab.
  4. Click on the 'Browse...' or ' Select File' button.
  5. Select the FRITZ!OS file you downloaded (image file).
  6. Click on the 'Start Update' button.
