Loud background noise when using a FRITZ!DECT Repeater

You hear loud background noise when conducting calls with a cordless telephone as soon as a FRITZ!DECT Repeater is registered with the FRITZ!Box.

The repeater is not correctly connected with the FRITZ!Box or it was not positioned correctly.

DECT technology is constantly evolving. To ensure that the FRITZ!Box is up-to-date, install the latest FRITZ!OS:

Click on 'Telephony' in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
Click on 'DECT' in the 'Telephony' menu.
Enable the 'Permit only secure DECT connections (recommended)' option in the 'Security' section.
Click on 'Apply' to save the settings.
If the option was disabled, restart the FRITZ!Box once using the user interface ('System > Backup > Restart').

Push and hold down the DECT button on the FRITZ!DECT Repeater twice in a row for at least 6 seconds each time.
The DECT LED flashes as soon as the FRITZ!DECT Repeater is deregistered.

Click on 'System' in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
Click on 'Backup' in the 'System' menu.
Click on 'Restart FRITZ!Box' and then on 'Restart'.
- If 'Restart FRITZ!Box' is not displayed, click on the 'Restart' tab and then on the 'Restart' button.

Plug the FRITZ!DECT Repeater into an electrical socket near the FRITZ!Box.
Push the DECT button on the extender. Hold down the button for at least 6 seconds until the DECT LED starts to flash quickly. The extender is in registration mode as long as the LED flashes quickly.
Within 2 minutes: Push the Connect button on the FRITZ!Box. Hold down the button for about 1 second until the Connect LED starts to flash. The FRITZ!Box is in registration mode as long as the LED flashes. Other LEDs may also flash.
- If your FRITZ!Box does not have a Connect button, push the DECT button on the FRITZ!Box. Hold down the button for at least 6 seconds until the DECT or Info LED on the FRITZ!Box starts to flash. The FRITZ!Box is in registration mode as long as the LED flashes.
The DECT LED on the extender remains lit as soon as the DECT connection has been established.

Select a location for the FRITZ!DECT Repeater where a telephone that is registered directly with the FRITZ!Box still has perfect reception. The DECT LED on the repeater must remain lit. If the LED flashes, the repeater is not connected to the FRITZ!Box. In addition, at the location you select for the repeater, voice transmission with every telephone must be absolutely interference-free in both directions when the repeater is switched off. Otherwise, the location is not a suitable place to position the repeater.
