Can the FRITZ!Box be used as a wireless extender?
The FRITZ!Box can be used as a wireless extender with an existing FRITZ!Box if both FRITZ!Boxes support FRITZ! Mesh.
However, the FRITZ!Box cannot be used as a wireless extender with a router from another manufacturer because currently there is no manufacturer-independent Mesh standard. The FRITZ!Box can use the Wi-Fi network of the other router for the internet connection, though. In this case, the FRITZ!Box functions as a router itself and provides its own Wi-Fi network.
If you need a Wi-Fi extender, for example because devices connected to the extender should also be able to access devices connected to the router, we recommend using a FRITZ!Repeater. FRITZ!Repeaters behave like conventional wireless devices towards routers and can therefore be used with all commercially available routers.
