Setting up an analogue phone in the FRITZ!Box

You want to connect an analogue phone to the FRITZ!Box and set it up? ✔ It's easy with this guide.

You can connect an analogue corded phone or an analogue cordless phone with its own base station to the FRITZ!Box. Once you have set up the phone, you can make calls with it using all of the phone numbers you configured in the FRITZ!Box.

Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box.

1 Configuring phone numbers in the FRITZ!Box

Configure all of the available phone numbers in the FRITZ!Box:

Configuring internet phone numbers

  1. Configure the internet phone numbers in the FRITZ!Box.

Configuring a mobile phone number

  1. Configure the mobile phone number in the FRITZ!Box.

2 Connecting the phone to the FRITZ!Box

  1. Connect the phone to the analogue extension on your FRITZ!Box.

    Important:The FRITZ!Box has two 'FON' sockets: One socket for phones with a TAE plug, and one socket for phones with an RJ11 plug. Only one of the two 'FON' sockets may be used at a time. The other 'FON' socket must remain free (unused).

3 Configuring a phone in the FRITZ!Box

  1. Click on 'Telephony' in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click on 'Telephony Devices' in the 'Telephony' menu.
  3. If the phone is already displayed in the list of telephony devices, click on the (Delete) button for the phone.
  4. Reconfigure the phone: Click on the 'Configure New Device' button.
  5. Enable the 'Phone (with or without answering machine)' option and click on 'Next'.
  6. Select the 'FON 1' socket and click on 'Next'. A wizard takes you through the configuration.

    Important:If you cannot select the 'FON 1' socket, another telephony device is already configured for that socket. Delete that device first.
