Setting up FRITZ!Box for use with a Dimensione line

The FRITZ!Box is optimally prepared for use with Dimensione. Simply connect the FRITZ!Box to the internet connection and configure the internet connection and telephony in the FRITZ!Box. The complete FRITZ!Box range of functions for internet, telephony, and smart home is then available to all of the devices in your home network without restriction.

Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box.

1 Connecting the FRITZ!Box

  1. Use a network cable to connect the 'WAN' port on the FRITZ!Box to the LAN port on the fiber optic modem (ONT, Optical Network Termination) or the fixed wireless access connection (FWA). For detailed information, refer to the quick guide included with the FRITZ!Box and the manual.

2 Configuring the internet connection in the FRITZ!Box

  1. Open the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Enter the FRITZ!Box password given on the type label of the FRITZ!Box and click on 'Log In'.
  3. Click on 'Internet' and then on 'Account Information'.
  4. Click on the 'Internet Connection' tab and then on the 'DSL / WAN' tab.
  5. Select 'other internet service provider' from the drop-down list.
  6. Enable the 'Connection to an external modem or router' option in the 'Connected via' section.
  7. Enable the 'Establish own connection to the internet' option in the 'Operating Mode' section.
  8. If you are using the FRITZ!Box on a fiber optic connection (FTTH) or a hybrid fixed wireless access connection (FWA) with data rates greater than 100 Mbit/s:
    1. Enable the 'Yes' option in the 'Account Information' section.
    2. Enter the account information you received from Dimensione in the relevant fields.
    3. Enter the speeds of your internet connection in the 'Downstream' and 'Upstream' fields.
    4. Click on 'Change connection settings'.
    5. Enable the 'Use VLAN for internet access' option and enter 835 in the 'VLAN ID' field.
  9. If you are using the FRITZ!Box on a hybrid fixed wireless access connection (FWA) with data rates of 100 Mbit/s or less:
    1. Enable the 'No' option in the 'Account Information' section.
    2. Enter the speeds of your internet connection in the 'Downstream' and 'Upstream' fields.
  10. Click on 'Apply' to save the settings.
  11. Now the FRITZ!Box checks whether the internet connection can be established. Configuration is complete as soon as the message 'The internet connection check was successful' is displayed.

    Important:If the internet connection check fails, your internet access may not have been activated yet. In this case, contact Dimensione.

3 Setting up telephony in the FRITZ!Box

Configuring phone numbers

  1. Click on 'Telephony' in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click on 'Phone Numbers' in the 'Telephony' menu.
  3. Click on the 'New Phone Number' button.
  4. If shown, enable the option 'Internet phone number' and click on 'Next'.
  5. Select 'Other provider' from the drop-down list.
  6. By 'Phone number for registration', enter the username that you received from Dimensione.
  7. Enter your phone number without +39 (for example 061234567) by 'Internal phone number in the FRITZ!Box'.
  8. Enter the login information you received from Dimensione by 'Username' and 'Password'.
  9. Enter voip.dimensione.com in the 'Registrar' field.
  10. Click on 'Next' and follow the wizard's instructions.

Adjusting the phone numbers

  1. Click on 'Telephony' in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click on 'Phone Numbers' in the 'Telephony' menu.
  3. Click the (Edit) button for the respective internet phone number.
  4. Enable the option 'Provider does not support REGISTER-fetch'.
  5. Click on 'OK' to save the settings.

Assigning phone numbers

  1. Click on 'Telephony' in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click on 'Telephony Devices' in the 'Telephony' menu.
  3. Click on the (Edit) button for the respective telephony device.

    Important:If the telephony device was not configured yet, click on the 'Configure New Device' button and follow the wizard's instructions.

  4. From the 'Outgoing Calls' drop-down list, select the number to be used by the telephony device for making outgoing calls. If you do not select a phone number, the number entered under 'Telephony > Telephone Numbers > Line Settings' is used for making calls.
  5. Select the phone numbers to which the telephony device should react when you receive calls. You can select up to ten numbers (including the number for outgoing calls).
  6. Click on 'Apply' to save the settings.
