Internet phone numbers cannot be entered, edited or deleted

It is not possible to configure new internet phone numbers or to edit or delete configured phone numbers

Simply proceed as described below. After each measure, check whether the problem is solved.

Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box.

1 Maximum number has been reached

A maximum of 20 internet phone numbers can be entered in the FRITZ!Box. If 20 internet phone numbers were already configured, you cannot configure any more internet phone numbers.

2 Reconfiguring phone numbers

The following steps are only necessary if you cannot edit or delete phone numbers that you imported to a new FRITZ!Box using a backup file:

Save the settings of the new FRITZ!Box and reset the FRITZ!Box to factory settings. Then, restore the saved settings without the telephony settings. Manually reconfigure the telephony functions:

Saving settings

  1. Click on 'System' in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click on 'Backup' in the 'System' menu.
  3. Click on the 'Save' tab.
  4. Enter a password.

    Tip:Keep the password in a safe place! The backup file can only be used after entering the password.

  5. Click on 'Save' and confirm that the procedure may be executed on the FRITZ!Box, if you are asked to do so.
  6. Save the file 'FRITZ.Box[...].export' on your computer. If the browser blocks the file download, click on 'Keep' in Microsoft Edge and Chrome.

  1. Load the FRITZ!Box factory settings

Restoring settings

Now you can restore all of the settings except for the telephony settings. Afterward, you must manually reconfigure the telephony functions:

  1. Click on 'System' in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click on 'Backup' in the 'System' menu.
  3. Click on the 'Restore' tab.
  4. Click on the 'Browse...' or ' Select File' button.
  5. Select the file 'FRITZ.Box[...].export' with the settings you want to restore.
  6. Enter the password you entered when saving the file.
  7. Enable the 'Select manually the settings to be restored' option.
  8. Click on the 'Restore' button and on the FRITZ!Box, confirm that the procedure may be executed, if you are asked to do so.
  9. Enable the 'Select all settings' option.
  10. Disable the 'Overwrite all phone numbers and telephony settings' option.
  11. Click on 'Apply'.

3 Only the provider can make changes

With some providers, the phone numbers are automatically configured in the FRITZ!Box when the internet connection is configured. With these providers, it is not possible to later change the settings for phone numbers that were configured automatically or enter additional phone numbers in the FRITZ!Box.
