DECT range is too low

The range of the DECT connection between a cordless phone and the FRITZ!Box is too low. Even at a short distance from the FRITZ!Box, the connection drops or is interrupted, or you hear an annoying crackling when conducting calls over DECT. The phone may completely lose the DECT connection and show the error 'Search for base' on its display.

Cause

  • Surrounding structural conditions (such as thickness and reinforcement of the walls) as well as other radio equipment such as microwaves and baby monitors influence the quality and thus the range of the DECT connection.

Simply proceed as described below. After each measure, check whether the problem is solved.

Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box.

1 Installing the latest software for your phone

The following steps are only necessary if you are using a FRITZ!Fon:

  2. If the problem no longer occurs then, turn off the other base station or place the base station further away from the FRITZ!Box.

5 Removing USB 3.0 devices from the FRITZ!Box

  1. For testing purposes, remove all of the USB 3.0 devices from the FRITZ!Box's USB sockets.
  2. If the problem no longer occurs then, a USB device was interfering with the radio connection. Eliminate the interference caused by the USB device.
