FRITZ!Box 6690 Cable

Watching TV via SAT>IP

Starting with FRITZ!OS 7, the FRITZ!Box supports the Sat-over-IP technology (SAT>IP). Some manufacturers also refer to SAT>IP as 'DVB over IP', 'SAT to IP' or 'TV>IP'.

After setting up TV reception in the FRITZ!Box, as a SAT>IP server the FRITZ!Box converts digital TV signals into IP packets and makes them available as a stream in the home network. In the home network, TVs with SAT>IP support, for example from Panasonic and Loewe, can access the FRITZ!Box's tuners as SAT>IP clients. With a corresponding smart card, they can also play encrypted content. You just have to select the FRITZ!Box as the SAT>IP server in the TV and then search for channels. The TV determines which elements the stream contains, for example subtitles, EPG. No settings are necessary in the FRITZ!Box.
