Changing the name of the Wi-Fi network (SSID) of the FRITZ!Box

You can easily change the FRITZ!Box's Wi-Fi network name and give your Wi-Fi a unique name. In the FRITZ! Mesh, the FRITZ!Box (Mesh Master) transmits the new name for the Wi-Fi network to all Mesh Repeaters (for example FRITZ!Repeater).

When you change the Wi-Fi network name, note that you must then reconfigure the Wi-Fi connection on all of the wireless devices.

1 Changing the name of the Wi-Fi network (SSID)

  1. Click on 'Wi-Fi' in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click on 'Wi-Fi Network' in the 'Wi-Fi' menu.
  3. Enter a unique name in the 'Name of the Wi-Fi network (SSID)' field. If you want to use different names but only one field is displayed, enable the 'Use different names for Wi-Fi networks' option.

Important:We recommend using the same name for all frequency bands so that wireless devices are automatically steered to the most suitable frequency band (Mesh Wi-Fi steering).

  4. Click on 'Apply' to save the settings. All Wi-Fi connections to the FRITZ!Box are cleared when the new Wi-Fi network name is adopted. You must then reconfigure the Wi-Fi connections to the FRITZ!Box.
