Calls with a cordless phone drop frequently

When conducting calls with a cordless phone registered with the FRITZ!Box, some or all calls drop suddenly during calls. The problem either occurs sporadically or all the time.

Simply proceed as described below. After each measure, check whether the problem is solved.

1 Correcting the settings for the internet phone number

  1. Click on 'Telephony' in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click on 'Phone Numbers' in the 'Telephony' menu.
  3. Click on the (Edit) button for the respective internet phone number.
  4. Select 'Other provider' from the 'Telephony provider' drop-down list.
  5. Click on 'Additional Settings' to display all of the settings.
  6. Select the '20' option in the 'Packet size in milliseconds in send direction' field in the 'Additional Settings for the Phone Number' section.
  7. Click on 'Apply' to save the settings.

2 Correcting the DECT encryption

The following step is only necessary if all calls conducted with a FRITZ!Fon drop after a few seconds:

  1. Follow the steps in our guide FRITZ!Fon reports 'Non-encrypted connection cleared'. DECT encryption is incorrectly configured.

3 Optimizing the DECT range

The following step is only necessary if calls only drop when you are at a greater distance from the FRITZ!Box:

  1. Follow the steps in our guide DECT range is too low. The DECT connection is interrupted or the phone is not within the DECT range when the call drops.

4 Checking the display for error messages

  1. Check whether a message is shown on the phone's display right after the call drops.
  2. If the message 'Non-encrypted connection cleared' is displayed, follow the steps in our guide FRITZ!Fon reports 'Non-encrypted connection cleared'.
  3. If the message 'Search for base' is shown, follow the steps in our guide DECT connection drops frequently.
  4. If no message is shown and the connection is not interrupted, follow the steps in the guide Parties cannot hear each other.
