Reception interference when watching TV with FRITZ!App TV

When watching TV with FRITZ!App TV on a smartphone or tablet, picture and/or audio dropouts occur. This does not occur with a TV connected to the same cable socket.

Simply proceed as described below. After each measure, check whether the problem is solved.

1 Installing the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box

  1. Install the latest FRITZ!OS on the FRITZ!Box.

2 Starting a new channel search

  1. Click on 'DVB-C' in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click on 'Live TV' in the 'DVB-C' menu.
  3. Click on the 'Settings' tab.
  4. Click on the 'Start Channel Search' button.

3 Disabling the hardware decoder in Android

The following step is only necessary if you experience image distortion or pixel errors when playing back HD channels with an Android device, but not with SD channels:

Important:Disabling hardware encoding may increase the demand on battery power during playback.

  1. Start FRITZ!App TV.
  2. In FRITZ!App TV, tap and then 'Settings'.
  3. Disable the 'Enable HW decoder' option.

4 Enabling deinterlacing in iOS

The following step is only necessary if lines appear during playback with your iPhone or iPad and there is movement in the picture:

  1. Start FRITZ!App TV.
  2. Tap 'Info'.
  3. Tap on 'More' in the 'Other' section.
  4. Enable the 'Deinterlacing' option for FRITZ!App TV.

Important:Deinterlacing can only be enabled in FRITZ!App TV if the iOS device uses at least an A7 chip. Refer directly to Apple for information on the technical specifications of the device, for example consult the manual.
