Setting up the FRITZ!Box for use with a fiber optic connection from congstar

The FRITZ!Box is optimally prepared for use with congstar. Have congstar unlock your FRITZ!Box for the fiber optic connection, connect it to the fiber optic connection, and select congstar as the internet service provider. Internet access is then configured automatically.

The complete FRITZ!Box range of functions for internet, multimedia, and smart home is then available to all of the devices in the home network without restriction.

You can set up the FRITZ!Box either with the MyFRITZ!App or as described in this guide.

Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box.

1 Unlocking your FRITZ!Box

Wait to unlock the FRITZ!Box until you receive an email or SMS message with the reference 'Glasfaser-Anschluss einrichten' (set up fiber optic connection) from Deutsche Telekom:

  1. In the email or SMS with the reference 'Glasfaser-Anschluss einrichten', click or tap on the link or button 'Jetzt einrichten' (set up now). You will be redirected to the Deutsche Telekom website.

  2. On the Telekom website, tap the button 'Jetzt einrichten' (Set up now) and follow the wizard's instructions. When asked, give them the ID of the fiber optic socket ('Glasfaser-ID') and the 'modem ID' given on the type label of the FRITZ!Box.
  3. Once the wizard is complete, it may take up to 45 minutes until your connection is completely configured. You will receive an email or SMS when your connection has been completely configured.

2 Connecting the FRITZ!Box to your fiber optic connection

  1. Remove the dust protection caps from the fiber optic cable, the 'Fiber' socket on the FRITZ!Box, and from the fiber optic socket.
  2. Connect the fiber optic cable to the 'Fiber' socket on the FRITZ!Box and to the fiber optic socket. Do not bend the fiber optic cable and do not hold the ends of the cable in front of your eyes.

3 Plugging the FRITZ!Box in

  1. Plug the power adapter into the FRITZ!Box's power socket and plug it into an electrical socket.

4 Configuring the internet connection in the FRITZ!Box

  1. Open the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Enter the FRITZ!Box password given on the type label of the FRITZ!Box and click on 'Log In'.
  3. If the wizard for internet access does not start automatically, click on 'Wizards' and then on 'Configure the Internet Connection'.

  4. Select 'congstar' from the drop-down list.
  5. Enable the 'congstar Glasfaser automatische Einrichtung' option.
  6. Click on 'Next' and follow the wizard's instructions. The wizard connects the FRITZ!Box to the internet.

    Important:If the FRITZ!Box cannot establish an internet connection, your internet access may not have been activated yet. In this case, contact congstar.
