Setting up the FRITZ!Box for use with a fiber optic connection from Init7

The FRITZ!Box is optimally prepared for use with Init7. Simply connect the FRITZ!Box to the fiber optic connection and configure the internet connection in the FRITZ!Box.

The complete FRITZ!Box range of functions for internet, television (TV7), and smart home is then available to all of the devices in the home network without restriction.

Requirements / Restrictions

  • AON or GPON fiber optic connection. The FRITZ!Box cannot be used directly with XGS-PON fiber optic connections.

    NoteOn an XGS-PON connection you can configure the FRITZ!Box for the internet connection via 'WAN' and use it behind the fiber optic modem from the provider.

Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box.

1 Inserting the SFP module into the FRITZ!Box

The FRITZ!Box is available in several different product variants, each of which is delivered with different components. If the FRITZ!Box you received did not have an SFP plug-in module inserted, perform the following step:

  1. Insert the SFP plug-in module 'FRITZ!SFP AON' into the fiber slot of the FRITZ!Box.

2 Connecting the FRITZ!Box to your fiber optic connection

  1. Remove the dust protection caps from the fiber optic cable, the SFP module in the FRITZ!Box, and from the fiber optic socket (OTO).
  2. Connect the fiber optic cable to the SFP module in the FRITZ!Box and to the fiber optic socket. Do not bend the fiber optic cable and do not hold the ends of the cable in front of your eyes.

3 Plugging the FRITZ!Box in

  1. Plug the power adapter into the FRITZ!Box's power socket and plug it into an electrical socket.

4 Configuring the internet connection in the FRITZ!Box

  1. Open the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Enter the FRITZ!Box password given on the type label of the FRITZ!Box and click on 'Log In'.
  3. If the wizard for internet access does not start automatically, click on 'Wizards' and then on 'Configure the Internet Connection'.

  4. Enable the 'Use Fiber Optic for Internet Access' option.
  5. Select 'other internet service provider' from the drop-down list and click on 'Next'.
  6. If you are using the FRITZ!Box on a Fiber7 or Crossover7 line:
    1. Enable the 'No' option in the 'Account Information' section.
  7. If you are using the FRITZ!Box on a hybrid7 line:
    1. Enable the 'Yes' option in the 'Account Information' section.
    2. Enter the account information you received from Init7 in the fields.
  8. Click on 'Next' and follow the wizard's instructions. The wizard connects the FRITZ!Box to the internet.

    Important:If the FRITZ!Box cannot connect to the internet, either your internet access has not been activated yet, or the account information is incorrect. In this case, contact Init7.
