Setting up the FRITZ!Box for use with a fiber optic connection from edpnet

The FRITZ!Box is optimally prepared for use with edpnet. Simply connect the FRITZ!Box to the fiber optic modem from edpnet and configure the internet connection and telephony in the FRITZ!Box.

The complete FRITZ!Box range of functions for internet, telephony, and smart home is then available to all of the devices in the home network without restriction.

Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box.

1 Having your account information ready

  1. Have your personal account information for internet access and the account information for telephony that you received from edpnet ready.

    Note:The account information was sent to you via email after you concluded the contract with them. If you did not receive your login information, contact edpnet.

2 Connecting the FRITZ!Box

  1. Insert one end of a network cable into the 'WAN' port on the FRITZ!Box. Use the network cable supplied with the FRITZ!Box, for example.
  2. Insert the other end of the network cable into the LAN port on the fiber optic modem (ONT, Optical Network Termination).

3 Configuring the internet connection in the FRITZ!Box

  1. Open the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Enter the FRITZ!Box password given on the type label of the FRITZ!Box and click on 'Log In'.
  3. Click on 'Internet' and then on 'Account Information'.
  4. Select 'edpnet' from the 'Internet connection via' drop-down list.
  5. Enter the account information you received from edpnet in the relevant fields.
  6. Click on 'Apply' to save the settings. Now the FRITZ!Box establishes the internet connection.

    Important:If the FRITZ!Box cannot connect to the internet, either your internet access has not been activated yet, or the account information is incorrect. In this case, contact edpnet.

4 Setting up telephony in the FRITZ!Box

Configuring phone numbers

  1. Click on 'Telephony' in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click on 'Phone Numbers' in the 'Telephony' menu.
  3. Click on the 'New Phone Number' button.
  4. Select 'Other provider' from the drop-down list.
  5. Enter your phone number (for example 012345678) by 'Telephone number for registration' and 'Internal phone number in the FRITZ!Box'.
  6. Enter your phone number (for example 012345678) by 'Username'.
  7. For the 'Password', enter the password you received from edpnet.
  8. Enter sip.edpnet.be in the 'Registrar' field.
  9. Enter your area code by 'Area code'.
  10. Click on 'Next' and follow the wizard's instructions.

Assigning phone numbers

  1. Click on 'Telephony' in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click on 'Telephony Devices' in the 'Telephony' menu.
  3. Click on the (Edit) button for the respective telephony device.

    Important:If the telephony device was not configured yet, click on the 'Configure New Device' button and follow the wizard's instructions.

  4. From the 'Outgoing Calls' drop-down list, select the number to be used by the telephony device for making outgoing calls. If you do not select a phone number, the number entered under 'Telephony > Telephone Numbers > Line Settings' is used for making calls.
  5. Select the phone numbers to which the telephony device should react when you receive calls. You can select up to ten numbers (including the number for outgoing calls).
  6. Click on 'Apply' to save the settings.
