Setting up FRITZ!Box for use with a Sky WiFi line

To use the FRITZ!Box with Sky WiFi, simply connect the FRITZ!Box to the internet connection and configure the internet connection and telephony in the FRITZ!Box. The complete FRITZ!Box range of functions for internet, telephony, and smart home is then available to all of the devices in your home network without restriction.

Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box.

1 Using the latest FRITZ!OS

To use Sky, FRITZ!OS 8 or later must be installed. With older FRITZ!OS versions, the FRITZ!Box cannot establish an internet connection because it does not yet support the MAP-T protocol used by Sky.

2 Connecting the FRITZ!Box

  1. Connect the 'WAN' port on the FRITZ!Box to the LAN port of the DSL or fiber optic modem (ONT, Optical Network Termination). For detailed information, refer to the quick guide included with the FRITZ!Box and the manual.

3 Setting up an IPv6 connection in the FRITZ!Box

  1. Click on 'Internet' in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click on 'Account Information' in the 'Internet' menu.
  3. Click on the 'IPv6' tab.
  4. Enable the option 'Use native IPv6 connection'.
  5. Enable the option 'Automatically determine IPv4 connectivity'.
  6. Click on 'Apply' to save the settings.

4 Configuring the internet connection in the FRITZ!Box

  1. Open the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Enter the FRITZ!Box password given on the type label of the FRITZ!Box and click on 'Log In'.
  3. Click on 'Internet' and then on 'Account Information'.
  4. Select 'Sky WiFi' from the drop-down list 'Internet connection via'.
  5. Click on 'Apply' to save the settings.
  6. Now the FRITZ!Box checks whether the internet connection can be established. Configuration is complete as soon as the message 'The internet connection check was successful' is displayed.

    Important:If the internet connection check fails, your internet access may not have been activated yet. In this case, contact Sky.

5 Setting up telephony in the FRITZ!Box

Requesting account information for telephony

  1. Contact Sky's customer service to have them give you the login information for telephony (for example the username and password).

Configuring phone numbers

  1. Click on 'Telephony' in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click on 'Phone Numbers' in the 'Telephony' menu.
  3. Click the 'New Phone Number' button.
  4. Select 'Sky WiFi' from the drop-down list.
  5. Enter your phone number including the area code by 'Internet phone number' (for example 061234567).
  6. Enter your phone number including the area code by 'Username'.
  7. For the 'Password', enter the password you received from Sky.
  8. Click on 'Next' and follow the wizard's instructions.

Assigning phone numbers

  1. Click on 'Telephony' in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click on 'Telephony Devices' in the 'Telephony' menu.
  3. Click on the (Edit) button for the respective telephony device.

    Important:If the telephony device was not configured yet, click on the 'Configure New Device' button and follow the wizard's instructions.

  4. From the 'Outgoing Calls' drop-down list, select the number to be used by the telephony device for making outgoing calls. If you do not select a phone number, the number entered under 'Telephony > Phone Numbers > Line Settings' is used for making calls.
  5. Select the phone numbers to which the telephony device should react when you receive calls. You can select up to ten numbers (including the number for outgoing calls).
  6. Click on 'Apply' to save the settings.
