FRITZ!App Fon does not ring when you receive a call

FRITZ!App Fon doesn't ring for an incoming call. This happens with some incoming calls, or with all of them. FRITZ!App Fon is correctly registered with the FRITZ!Box and you can make phone calls with FRITZ!App Fon.

Simply proceed as described below. After each measure, check whether the problem is solved.

1 Signalling in iOS via VPN not possible

Due to Apple's technical specifications, incoming calls cannot be signalled over a VPN connection in iOS.

2 Disabling 'Do Not Disturb' mode for FRITZ!App Fon

The following steps are only necessary if the problem occurs with FRITZ!App Fon on an Android device:

  1. Disable the 'Do Not Disturb' mode in FRITZ!App Fon in the Android settings. The procedure depends on the phone you are using. Refer to the manufacturer of the phone for information on how to configure it, for example consult the manual.

    Note:In many phones, you can find this option under 'Settings > Notifications > Do not disturb'.

3 Disabling the 'Pause app activity if unused' option for FRITZ!App Fon

The following steps are only necessary if the problem occurs with FRITZ!App Fon on an Android device:

  1. Disable the 'Pause app activity if unused' option for FRITZ!App Fon in the Android settings. The procedure depends on the phone. Refer to the manufacturer of the phone for information on how to configure it, for example consult the manual.

    Note:In many phones, you can find this option under 'Settings > Apps > FRITZ!App Fon > Pause app activity if unused'.

4 Enabling the 'React to calls' option in FRITZ!App Fon

  1. Start FRITZ!App Fon.
  2. Tap on the gear symbol (Android) or the three-dot menu (iOS) on the top right and then tap on 'Settings'.
  3. If you are using FRITZ!App Fon in iOS, tap on 'Call Signalling'.
  4. Enable the 'React to calls' option.

5 Adding an unknown Wi-Fi network in FRITZ!App Fon

The signalling of incoming calls is not possible in iOS if FRITZ!App Fon is connected to a Wi-Fi network whose network name (SSID) does not correspond to the name of FRITZ!Box:

  1. Start FRITZ!App Fon.
  2. Tap on the three-dot menu on the top right and then tap on 'Settings'.
  3. Tap on 'Call Signalling'.
  4. Tap on 'Add Current Network' and follow the wizard's instructions.

6 Disabling call blocks and call through in the FRITZ!Box

  1. Click on 'Telephony' in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click on 'Call Handling' in the 'Telephony' menu.
  3. Click on the 'Call Blocks' tab and delete all call blocks.
  4. Click on the 'Call Diversion' tab and delete any call diversions that were configured.
  5. Click on the 'Call Through' tab. If the tab is not displayed, enable the Advanced View first.
  6. Disable call through and click on 'Apply'.

7 Defining phone numbers for FRITZ!App Fon

Do not configure the phone numbers for FRITZ!App Fon in the FRITZ!Box user interface, configure them in the app itself:

  1. Start FRITZ!App Fon.
  2. Tap on the gear symbol (Android) or the three-dot menu (iOS) on the top right and then tap on 'Settings'.
  3. If you are using FRITZ!App Fon in iOS, tap on 'Phone Numbers'.
  4. If you are using FRITZ!App Fon in Android and use the app with several FRITZ!Boxes, first tap on the gear icon next to the desired FRITZ!Box.
  5. Under 'Outgoing calls', select the number to be used by FRITZ!App Fon for making calls.
  6. Under 'Incoming Calls', specify which phone numbers FRITZ!App Fon should react to when you receive calls.

8 Maintaining a permanent internet connection

Calls to your internet phone number can only reach the FRITZ!Box if an internet connection is active. Some FRITZ!Box models must be configured to permanently maintain the internet connection:

  1. Click on 'Internet' in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click on 'Account Information' in the 'Internet' menu.
  3. Click on 'Change connection settings'.
  4. Enable the 'Maintain permanently (recommended for flat rates)' option. If the option is not shown, the FRITZ!Box is already permanently connected to the internet.
  5. Click on 'Apply' to save the settings.

9 Reconfiguring the phone number and having it checked
